«The Menstrual Poverty»
Photos, conceptual selfies, 2024.

The topic of menstruation is still taboo, but this does not change the fact that women face various problems during this period. From painful sensations to serious social problems. All over the world, women suffer due to the lack of availability of hygiene products. Not everyone can afford to spend as much money on pads and tampons as required. In Russia, women who are on the verge of poverty face this. But in some other countries, things are much worse. Girls are forced to skip classes due to the lack of hygiene products. Instead of pads, they use rags and newspapers. This leads not only to unpleasant situations that harm the psyche, but also to the development of various diseases and complications, since these things are not intended for use during menstruation. Women all over the world, one way or another, face this problem. But it can be solved if the necessary products are made more accessible to all women, regardless of their country of residence and income.

The photographs were created specifically for the festival.
