Yulia Novikova
An artist who seeks to explore and combine the inner states of a person, their emotions and experiences, with the external world and its history. The way external perception is refracted through the internal, creating a new world. It is this essential world that people forget, either by withdrawing into themselves or surrendering to external factors.
Yulia's works remind us that everything must exist simultaneously and represent a combination of imagined images, mythological themes, and the moods of the surrounding world, serving as an allegory for everyday life.

«Liberation»
Canvas, acrylic, marker, liner, lacquer, 2024.

At the festival, I would like to present the theme of the psychological cage, into which a person places themselves under the influence of the demands of the surrounding social group and life circumstances. In my view, this is a state where one accepts foreign rules, resigns to them, grows accustomed to them, and eventually fears losing them. However, I decided not to focus entirely on the negative side, only to mention it veiled in the monochrome sections, and instead show the overcoming of this state.

The work "Liberation" is about the fact that one can always break free from their own cage, overcome themselves and external circumstances. Once outside this cycle, they can reconnect with the aspects of their personality that were previously suppressed. These aspects are depicted as four figures on the edges of the canvas. The central figure, having left the monochrome imposed world behind, looks around at the vibrant manifestations of the new and seeks to find itself.
